EVERY FRIDAY: RUN 10KM @ 5AM
This is an open, all inclusive group for runners to get together and knock out an easy 10K run to kick off the weekend.
The run will always start at 5am and it will always start at The Coffee Minista in Kloof.
The courses will differ weekly to offer variety and a mix of challenges. Nobody has to run the full 10 and nobody has to run only 10.
The intention is to offer a weekly running vibe in the upper highway that ensures a safety in numbers aspect together with a social platform. The start location offers ample, safe parking and the option of excellent post-run coffee.

We know that Hillcrest traditionally lives up to its name, but we have done our best to select routes that are manageable as well as pram-friendly. We want this to be an all-inclusive, family-oriented run. Quiet back roads are frequently used and when we hit the main roads, we ensure that there is a sidewalk for safety. All routes are 10km but will always offer the choice of a shorter cut back in case you need to order your coffee before the masses…

Running alone can be peaceful but it really isn’t the safest option. The-more-the-merrier, but the-more-the-safer too. TEN@5 is designed to offer a group run from the same venue at the same time every Friday. So even if you show up on your own, you won’t run alone. Since the routes are pre-planned, everybody heads off in the same direction. We’ve also enabled runners to load the routes onto their devices to ensure the pack stays together.

The single biggest reason runners don’t show up at group runs is because they think they will be last and get left behind. TEN@5 are eager to debunk the theory by encouraging your to show up no matter how slow you think you are. If all the ‘slow’ people show up then everyone is in the same boat. TEN@5 encourages runners to bring their amazing personalities and leave their egos in bed where they belong.
